Hazardous Materials Operations: Refresher

Course Description:

This class is based on NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Standard for Responders. It is designed for first responders so they can stay compliant with OSHA and EPA regulations that require annual refresher training. Refresher course topics include properties and effects, recognition and identification, personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency decontamination, and air monitoring.

Students will complete several lectures and knowledge checks, then demonstrate their knowledge of operations level response with practical scenario challenges.

Course Length: 3 hours (Online); 3-6 hours (In-Person)

Standards:

This program is based on OSHA 1910.120(q)(6)(ii) and sections of NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Standard for Responders (2022 edition) Chapter 6 - Competencies for Hazardous Materials/WMD Operations Level Responders.

Certificates:

Elder Technical Rescue Services LLC will issue certificates of completion and PA DOH EMS con-ed credits to students successfully completing the program.

Our instructors are able to issue PA State Fire Academy Hazardous Materials Operations Refresher (6 hours) certificates, but ONLY for in-person training sessions.
