Incident Safety Officer for Technical Rescue

Course Description:
National standards call for the appointment of a knowledgeable incident safety officer (ISO) at all technical rescue incidents. This self-paced, online course discusses the different roles and responsibilities of an ISO at technical rescue incidents. Students will be able to describe and perform the responsibilities of the ISO and Assistant ISO for Technical Rescue. They will also be able to perform risk management, conduct a safety analysis, and deliver a safety briefing at a technical rescue incident or training evolution.

Course Length: 3 hours
Standards:
This program is based on NFPA 1521 Standard for Fire Department Safety Officer Professional Qualifications (2020 edition), and covers the General (Chapter 5.2) and Technical Search and Rescue Operations (Chapter 5.4) sections of that standard.
Pre-Requisite:
This course assumes the student has previous incident command system and technical rescue training at the operations or technician level.
Certificates:
Elder Technical Rescue Services LLC will issue certificates of completion to students successfully completing the program.
