Are you tired of the same old curriculum offered through local training centers? So were we, which is one of the reasons our business came to be in 2017. We are striving to offer unique training options that can also be customized to meet the needs of our customers. Here are a few examples of some of our unique programs. Contact us today if you are interested in setting up a class for your agency.
Flood Rescue Skills Development (12 hours) – COMING SOON!
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 10.0 hrs (2.0 clinical)
This program is being developed to offer an alternative training solution for first responders that work in a community prone to flash flooding, but are not part of or equipped like a specialized water rescue team. Topics include scene size-up, personal protective equipment, search tactics, rope techniques, medical considerations, and non-entry rescue of civilians trapped in flood water. Students will also be trained in water survival techniques and will be required to show a baseline level of competency in the water during a hands-on pool training session.
Heavy Vehicle Rescue Incidents (3 hours)
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 2.5 hrs (0.5 clinical)
This program has proven to be one of our more popular drill night options. It provides classroom training designed to enhance knowledge related to vehicle rescue. The focus is on technician level incidents which include heavy vehicles such as semi-tractor trailers, school buses, and more. This course serves as a good refresher for responders with previous training in heavy vehicle rescue, or as a solid foundation for responders currently trained to handle incidents primarily involving passenger vehicles.
Machinery Rescue Awareness (3 hours)
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 2.5 hrs (1.0 clinical)
Another one of our popular drill night options. This class teaches emergency responders how to perform a size-up of machinery rescue incidents, so a safe and effective initial response can be implemented. Students will implement scene management strategies and learn how to recognize and mitigate hazards associated with various types of machinery. Students will discuss machinery components, terminology, lockout/tagout, and medical considerations. This class also includes discussion of elevators and response procedures for the most common machinery rescue call – the stalled elevator.
Machinery Rescue Operations (3 hours) – COMING SOON!
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 2.5 other hrs
This program is under development as a follow-up to our Machinery Rescue Awareness class. Our goal is to offer an affordable machinery rescue program without placing a huge logistical burden on the customer. It will focus on small machines and simple disassembly techniques. Hands-on evolutions will include control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout), gaining access, disentanglement, and extrication of entrapped limbs from simulated pieces of small machinery.
Tower Rescue Awareness (3 hours) and Operations (16 hours)
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 2.5 hrs (0.5 clinical) – Awareness Level
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 9.0 hrs (3.0 clinical) – Operations Level
With more and more elevated structures being built in our communities for cellular antennas, utilities, and other purposes, we developed our Tower Rescue Awareness and Operations level classes to fill an unmet need in the emergency services community. Most rope rescue programs do not adequately prepare first responders to perform these types of rescues. The Awareness level class is also a phenomenal drill night program.
Vehicle Rescue Skills Development (20 hours)
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 12.0 hrs (3.0 clinical)
This class was developed due to a large amount of feedback we have received regarding how difficult it is for agencies to schedule the PA Joint Vehicle Rescue Program (i.e., Basic Vehicle Rescue curriculum). It was created to offer a flexible option to meet our customer’s unmet needs. The program can be customized to serve as initial training for new first responders or as a refresher for those with previous training and experience.
