Elevator Emergency Management - Operations (Open Enrollment)
September 18, 2021 in Conshohocken
This course is designed for the trained professionals that respond to emergencies involving stalled elevators. Emergency personnel with inadequate training in handling Elevator emergencies are exposed to an increased risk of injury or death to both the victim and themselves. This comprehensive course will provide emergency responders with intensive classroom and hands-on training on how to safely and effectively remove passengers from stalled elevators. Basic procedures will be covered in this program.
Topics include: nomenclature, safety, how an elevator functions, construction, elevator safety devices, possible equipment needed, initial response steps, restarting a stalled elevator, lock/out – tag/out procedures, elevator doors, use of hoistway door keys/pick tools, poling, removal of passengers from stalled elevators, and manually lowering a hydraulic elevator.
Included in your registration for this class is a complimentary seat in the Intro to Elevator Emergencies lecture being held on Friday evening. Attending the introductory lecture is optional but highly recommended because it will serve as a solid review prior to participating in the hands-on training. You do NOT need to register separately for the lecture.
Class will run from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Class will meet at Spring Mill Fire Company No. 1 (1210 E. Hector Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428) and students will then rotate around to several different buildings in the immediate area to conduct hands-on training with real-world elevators.
Price: $250 (includes lunch)
Students must have previously completed the 8-hour Elevator Emergency Management - Awareness Level class with Michael Dragonetti and/or Dragon Rescue Management Inc. Students that did not take the pre-requisite class on March 27, 2021 in Folcroft, PA will be required to email us a copy of their certificate in order to hold their seat in the class.
