Rope Rescue Workshop: Ascent and Descent

Course Description:
The ability to ascend and descend rope empowers technicians to move freely in the vertical environment without the assistance of others. This workshop will teach students multiple methods of ascending and descending rope and also how to rescue others who become incapacitated while ascending and descending rope. Multiple techniques and equipment from the fire service, rope access, and arborist industries will be taught and utilized.
Course Length: 8 hours
Standards:
This program is based on various rope rescue operations and technician level job performance requirements found in NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications (2021 edition).
Pre-Requisite:
Students must be at least 18 years old and have previously completed Rope Rescue Operations (minimum 16 hours) through Elder Technical Rescue Services LLC or another approved training provider. Students will be required to ascend and descend rope up to 20’ high numerous times throughout the course. These skills will be taught, but students should come to class with an appropriate level of physical fitness.
Certificates:
Elder Technical Rescue Services LLC will issue certificates of completion to students successfully completing the program.
