Elder Technical Rescue Services, LLC is a firm believer that technical rescue operations should be patient-focused.  Rescuers must be able to perform a patient assessment and provide emergency medical care during the rescue process.  NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications is on board with this mindset, and requires emergency medical training for professional rescuers (the exact level can be determined by the authority having jurisdiction).

We are proud to offer the following courses within our curriculum that develop and enhance the emergency medical skills of professional rescuers.

Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer (3 hours)

Blended Learning Course

Certification: ASHI BLS for the Professional Rescuer certification (2 years)

Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Professional Rescuer teaches students how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support, and what to do in case of an airway obstruction or choking. The Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians have approved BLS for the Professional Rescuer as meeting the professional level certification requirement for CPR & AED.

Emergency Medical Response (48 hours)

Certification: ASHI Emergency Medical Response certification (2 years)

Emergency Medical Response provides the highest level of medical training for non-EMS certified professional rescuers. Topics include medical terminology, human anatomy, lifting and moving, oxygen therapy, caring for medical and traumatic injuries, pediatric emergencies, and more. BLS for the Professional Rescuer (CPR/AED) certification is included in the course.  Students successfully completing the Emergency Medical Response course may be eligible to sit for PA DOH Emergency Medical Responder testing.

This class meets and exceeds the National Component requirements of the EMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCP).

Medical Aspects of Technical Rescue (3 hours)

PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 3.0 clinical hrs

Technical rescuers must have a strong understanding not only of medical considerations that affect their ability to perform but must also understand the patient care that needs to be delivered in the field in order to perform a successful rescue operation. Appropriate treatment started during a technical rescue will minimize pain and suffering and possibly save the individual’s life. This class will start with a review of medical considerations pertaining to the rescuer and conclude with considerations for patient care in the technical rescue environment. This class is highly recommended for both EMS trained and non-EMS trained rescuers
